Chinese auto manufacturer GEELY launches the LC Cross mini SUV in South Africa
Chinese auto manufacturer Geely carries on the expansion of its local line-up in South Africa with its most recent roll-out, the GEELY LC Cross. Basically, the Cross is “mini SUV” edition of the LC, which was launched locally in April 2011. Given that the LC has established itself as a popular, dependable and cost-effective motor vehicle the LC Cross should be fairly successful in the South African market.
The LC Cross is equipped with 1.3 litre twin cam, quad valve engine producing 63kW at 6000rpm, which enable it to achieve a top speed of 160km/h. Power is sent to the front wheels by a 5 speed manual gearbox.
The base model GS, along with the mid range GL, both include radio/CD systems with 4 speakers, while the GT receives 2 additional speakers. All models include power windows front and rear, electric mirrors, rear window wipers as well as rear window demisters. The GT model is additionally pre-loaded with a Park Distance Control (PDC) system and also includes 6 airbags, while the mid-range GL comes with dual frontal airbags.
